Reviews of roguelike games?

Here's something that might prove interesting for folks.

tribe.net supports reviews (as witnessed by the review spam).

There are tons of great angband variations, this is in addition to all the other roguelike games out there.

I would like to see reviews of roguelike games so that I can know when a game should be checked out, and what interesting features I should be investigating (or enabling!) in a game.

This could be particularly interesting for those games which may not natively run on a person's platform. With emulators and virtual machines (VMs) it is possible to play games not natively designed for a platform, but without prior knowledge of them and their greatness, it probably wouldn't be investigated.

Is this the sort of thing that would interest people here?

Cheers,
Steven

Angband Box

Though you all might find it amusing that I took an old box,
installed MS DOS (either 5.0 or 6.0, can't remember right now)
and Angband 3.06,
and then set it to boot up right into Angband..

It's my dedicated Angband box. I turn it on..and boom! bandy goodness.

The only real downside is that I've gotta copy screenshots and char dumps to floppy if I decide to upload them.

..just a lil something to show there is life around here..

Is it *angband or roguelikes in general?

I noticed the name of the tribe is *angband, but it uses links containing roguelike.tribe.net.

Is this related to angband-derived games, or to roguelikes in general?

I'm a hard-core rogue-like fan. I actually learned to program so I could cheat at Moria (played in DOS). This was back before the Internet, long before Angband hit the scene.

The best thing about Angband is that when the source was cleaned up it became possible for people to create radical new variations.

I love to cheat, and I'm not above hacking the source to enable it.

Relatively high on my list of things I'd like to do there is: "Create a rogue-like game that doesn't suck."

On an unrelated note, what's with the spam? Does that happen a lot around here?
